Chests are the reward you’ll earn for successful luck interactions on voyages. Harder voyages yield higher tier chests. Higher tier chests will contain more doubloons and have a higher chance of dropping artifacts and, in the future, other rare items.
Once you’ve earned your chests, you’ll need to hand them over to the Plunderer’s Guild so they can break the locks and let you get the treasures inside.
Chests have a small chance of dropping other rare items. Right now artifacts are the only other loot we have in the game, but there may be others in future (other collection NFTs, tokens for whitelist spots and so on).
Head to 'my chests' under the 'My Tortuga' section of the website.
Click on the chest type you want to open, and hit the 'max' button or increase/decrease quantity.
Click 'break locks'. You'll need to wait a little while while the Plunderer's Guild break the locks (and we calculate your rewards on the back end).
Then you'll see 'open X locked chests'. Go ahead and click that.
You must open all chests with broken locks before you can break more locks.
If you are extremely lucky not only will your chest drop Doubloons it was also drop the elusive Captains Lockbox
You earn doubloons by opening the chests you receive on voyages. Higher level voyages give higher tier chests.
Doubloons per chest:
Sailor's Chest - 30 Smuggler's Chest - 45 Captain's Chest - 85 Reaper's Chest - 110
Spend doubloons on upgrading your flagship, buying support ships, repairing your flagship, Pirate Auctions, upgrading your tavern room or renting assets to add to your fleet.
Artifacts are rare items that give you a boost to one skill. There are common, rare, epic and legendary artifacts for strength, navigation and luck.
Artifacts, like support ships, are colour coded to show what skill they impact.
Skill boost per artifact:
Common - 40 Rare - 60 Epic - 90 Legendary - 140 Artifacts only drop in a Captain's Lockbox. You have a small chance to get a captain's lockbox from opening chests.
Drop rate:
Sailor's Chest - 0.042% Smuggler's Chest - 0.063% Captain's Chest - 0.088% Reaper's Chest - 0.117% (edited)
