### What is the DPS?

The Damned Pirate Society combines an on-chain light-strategy game  with a real-time pixel art Pirateverse.

The game where you go on voyages, find treasure and grow your fleets with the profits of your plunder. Pirates, Flagships, Support Ships & Artefacts all combine to help you generate Doubloons, the in-game currency. These NFTs and live on-chain, allowing you to trade them.

**Pixel based sprite Metaverse**

The [pirateverse-alpha-build](https://damnedpiratessociety.gitbook.io/the-damned-pirates-society/pirateverse-alpha-build "mention") gameplay will have semi-idle style games and will also incorporate real-time elements in the future for those looking for a more traditional game experience. Sprite based gameplay is inspired by 90s games such as Final Fantasy VI, Pokemon and of course the Curse of Monkey Island.
